Audience Feedback

"Blood Brothers" (the play) by Willy Russell (May 2011)

Having seen the musical, I was curious to know how the play would stand up against it. I thought it was very well executed and thoroughly enjoyable. The cast not only made me laugh, but I also shed a tear or two - which is something of an accolade in itself! Once again, well done Tickety-Boo and I look forward to the next production.                                                                                   Sue Harris

My wife and I are so pleased that we spotted the banner publicising the Tickety Boo Theatre company’s production of Blood Brothers in our local town of Pontefract. We decided to buy tickets for the Friday night performance. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the evening. The performance itself was highly professional, thoroughly entertaining and we now cannot wait to see the next production of this theatre company. The Liverpool accents were spot on and we felt we could have been watching a professional performance in London! It has also given us the desire to see the musical version. Let's face it, the prices were downright cheap and provided first class value for money – and a good night out.                                                                                             Ian Thompson, Darrington

Blood Brothers was excellent! My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the next production performed by Tickety Boo Theatre.                   Gwynneth Churm

We really enjoyed the show. It's the second one we've been to and we can't wait for future shows. It certainly makes a change from trying to find something decent on the box to watch.                                                                                Darren Morn

My mother and I really, really enjoyed the play. There were a lot of lines to learn and the actors did magnificently!! We will come to your next event as we always enjoy them. Keep up the good work! I have recommended the play to others so I hope that they came.                                                                                   Linda Brook

My friend and I really enjoyed Blood Brothers. It was very good and the accents were superb. We have been to all of your plays and look forward to future productions.                                                                                                  Pam Wilks & Ann Knowling

On Friday I went to see Blood Brothers with my children and my boyfriend. We all thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience from the dramatic lighting (the children loved it when it went completely dark!) to the wonderful acting, set and costumes. My children especially loved the parts where the adults played children and my son returned with his Grandma the following evening to watch it for a second time! We will certainly be coming to your next one.                        Shirley Donnelly

On Friday 27th May, myself and two friends went to see the Tickety-Boo Theatre Company's performance of 'Blood Brothers' by Willy Russell. Our party sat in the fourth row and at the end of the performance I felt a little foolish because the ending was so moving that I was actually crying! I had to remind myself not to be so silly as 'it was only a play - not real life'. However, in the end I had to laugh because when the house lights went up and I surreptitiously glanced around I discovered that almost everyone in the first three rows were all furiously dabbing their eyes and blowing their noses whilst at the same time making comments such as "aren't the lights bright" and "I think I've got the beginnings of a cold"! I have seen the musical at least three times (including the Broadway production starring Petula Clark as 'The Mother' and David Cassidy and his brother (as Mickey and Eddie respectively) and I really did not think a play could match the musical (even though it was the play that Willie Russell wrote first). How wrong I was - and what a truly exceptional performance was given by every single member of the cast. The final accolade, however, must go to Reece Johnson, Alan Foster and Poppy-Jo Lumley who as Mickey, Eddie and Linda respectively had to act a part that started out as 7-year-olds, continued through their teenage years and ended as young adults. Their portrayal, interpretation and delivery as they passed through each stage was totally believable and their performance was as good as any professional's. Well done. I have now seen three of Tickety-Boo's productions and to say each one was better than the last does not do justice to their first production! I shall certainly make sure that I keep a day free to see their next production in December and I advise anyone who does not want to miss out on a piece of first-class theatre to do the same! Sylvia Cook

Just to let you know how much we enjoyed every minute of "Blood Brothers". The cast and crew were absolutely brilliant, and we are so looking forward to their next performance in December. Please keep us informed as to when this will be. Many thanks once more to each and every one of you for a wonderful evening.                                                                                                       Joan Cartwright

Yet again another fabulous production from the Tickety Boo Theatre Company and we have come to expect nothing less. Having seen the musical on a number of occasions it was refreshing to see the play. A wonderful evening was had by all. May I please make a suggestion for a future production and request Educating Rita? Thanks again.                                                                Catherine Mawson

Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the recent production of Blood Brothers. Top marks to all the cast, they were believable in all the age groups they portrayed. I would highly recommend all Tickety-Boo Productions (we have seen all of them so far) and are looking forward to the next one!                   Tina Goodworth

I would just like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the production and thought the performances, especially of the young men taking the part of the brothers, were excellent. I will certainly be looking out for future shows.                              Ann Cartwright

I recently attended your production of the play Blood Brothers on Thursday evening. I have seen the production twice before in London, as the musical version, but I was not disappointed! The production, from the cast (who were SUPERB) to scenery, lighting and sound, was excellent. I was impressed in every way and enjoyed it every bit as much as the West End productions. I will be coming to your every production from now on! We brought friends who travelled from Harrogate and all enjoyed the hospitality in the bar at half time. It was a lovely evening at the theatre but also on the doorstep! Many thanks   Hilary Trevorrow

Really pleased you have contacted me because it has given me the opportunity to let you know, I can speak for my friend and myself, the show was amazing. The acting was brilliant if not better than shows I have seen on the London stage and television. Thank you for a wonderful evening and we will certainly be attending again.                                                                                                         Peggy Gorman

I'd just like to say how much my wife and I enjoyed seeing Blood Brothers. This was the second time we'd seen the Tickety-boo players and we were very impressed. The portrayal of the brothers by Reece Johnson and Alan Foster from schoolboys to adults was excellent and they were ably assisted by Poppy-Jo Lumley, from pig-tails to womanhood she covered the time span so well. It was hard to pick a favourite actor from the play because everyone was wonderful but my special mention goes to Ian Wilson who played the narrator. He added an extra 'dark' undertone which was so fitting to the play. My wife and I also enjoyed an after-play meal at Mama Mia's and can highly recommend the restaurant. Thank you for a fantastic night and we can't wait for the next time Tickety-boo grace the boards at Pontefract Town Hall.                                 Andy & Alexandra Lockwood.
